EA Sports FC - Play Closer
Bringing fans closer than ever.
We were brought on board by Adam&EveDDB and director Car Addy to launch EA FC 24 on the PlayStation 5, the beginning of a new era for the world’s best-selling sports video game.
Territory partnered with another agency to create the visual effects and CGI that beautifully blend camera, gameplay, and motion graphic elements to emphasise pace and energy and capture audiences with striking visuals and animation.
The "Play Closer" spot takes viewers on a journey from outer space to as close as you can get to icons like Sam Kerr, Jack Grealish, and Didier Drogba.
The main challenge was the David Beckham and Zinedine Zidane sequence. The idea was to place them inside a kind of intelligence room, the masters of everything happening around them, sitting at the neuralgic centre of the story. The catch was that we had to shoot inside Zidane's actual football complex, a real, existing space with none of the sci-fi command-centre quality the concept needed.
So I had to work closely with the production team to dress the location with VFX and
matte painting already in mind
